Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting with my old friend Jan Engman a dairy industry professional with as much experience as I’m old. He had moved to Porto, Portugal, many years ago to be near his daughter. We hadn't seen each other in years, but it was like no time had passed at all. We spent a few hours catching up in the hotel bar before going to a delicious early dinner overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Casper, my dog, was happy to meet him and wagged his whole body excitedly when he arrived. It was a great day, and I was honored to reconnect with such an accomplished figure in our industry.
One of the things that I love about talking to Jan is that he always has the most amazing stories to tell. He's seen and done so much in his career, and he has a way of making even the most mundane events sound incredibly interesting. I know that if I told some of the stories that he told me to someone who hasn't been in our line of work, they would think I was making them up. But I can assure you, they're all true.
We're now on our way to Madrid, Spain, for our next stop on our Liquid - We Make It Easier! Euro trip. I have some interesting meetings scheduled with both people I know and people I have never met before. I am always eager to learn new things and expand my network, and I am confident that these meetings will be beneficial to both my personal and professional development.
At the same time as I'm looking forward to having multiple nights at the same hotel. I hope to find some time to explore the city and seeing all the sights, like the Royal Palace, the Prado Museum, and the Retiro Park.
I'm also excited to try some of the local cuisine, and would very much appreciate some recommendations.
